LOUPS: HomeLOUPS: Home Welcome to the London Region of the Open University Psychological Society (LOUPS)! Hi there - just a note to introduce ourselves. There are 7 of us on the Committee. We have been up and running now in our present form since 2003 when Lilli ‘rounded up’ a few of us ‘old hands’ and a few new ones to encourage us to relaunch the all important London region of OUPS. We all play an important part in organising events and find that it is very enjoyable and rewarding work particularly as students are appreciative of what we do. I am proud of what we have managed to achieve over the years which currently includes two successful events per year - a course overview day and a November conference. The themes for this latter conference have covered ‘Psychology of the Passions and Obsessions’, ‘Careers’, ‘Mind Matters - Therapeutic Approaches’, and ‘Child Development’. For our next event, we are currently planning a Course Overview Day on Sat. 29th March to be held at the School of Oriential and African Studies (SOAS) in Russell Square. We are, as usual, covering Exploring Psychology, Child Development, Biological Psychology, Social Psychology and Cognitive Psychology. We have excellent, very experienced tutors who will tutor for one whole day on each course - 5 parallel sessions. Please note that as Exploring Psychology now starts in October (whereas the other courses all still start in Feb.), the tutor will be gearing the sessions according to where students are in the calendar. We will also be holding our AGM on this day (29th March) and if you feel you would like to join us on the Committee, we would be very pleased to hear from you. Please contact me Stella (sjt22@tutor.open.ac.uk). Happy New Year and very much hope to see you at our events in the future. Stella Tickle (LOUPS Chair and OU psychology tutor) |
